FDA Warns Consumers Not to Use ADVANCED KING Joint Supplement
On February 10, 2025, the FDA warned consumers not to purchase or use the joint pain supplement ADVANCED KING (Naturista Store LLC), because FDA analysis confirmed the product contains dexamethasone, diclofenac, and methocarbamol. These drugs are not listed on the product label, and not permitted in dietary supplements.
(See ConsumerLab’s Review of Joint Health Supplements for tests of related products.)
Dexamethasone is a prescription corticosteroid drug that has the potential to cause severe and serious adverse events including adrenal suppression, a disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones, and other adverse events, which can lead to death. Depending on the dose, these adverse events may be severe and even life threatening. Sudden discontinuation of dexamethasone can also cause potentially dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
Diclofenac is a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that can cause serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, as well as bleeding, ulceration, and fatal tears of the stomach and intestines, or liver toxicity. Diclofenac may also interact with other medications and significantly increase the risk of adverse events.
Methocarbamol is a prescription muscle relaxant that can impair a person’s ability to fight infections and can cause dizziness, low blood pressure and sedation.
ADVANCED KING was sold online and possibly in some retail stores.
The FDA warned that abruptly stopping this supplement can cause withdrawal symptoms and that consumers taking the product should immediately consult with their health care professional to safely discontinue use.
The FDA issued a Warning Letter to Naturista LLC in March 2024 regarding the presence of drugs in ADVANCED KING and also issued a warning to consumers at that time.
