Sexual Enhancement Supplements Sold on Amazon Recalled

On November 4, 2024, four sexual enhancement supplements sold on Amazon and other websites, ZoomMax and ZapMax (Boulla LLC) and VitalityXtra and PeakMax (VitalityVita LLC) were recalled because they were found to contain undeclared prescription drugs, sildenafil and diclofenac.

(See ConsumerLab's Sexual Enhancer Supplements Review for tests of related products.)

Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) may cause symptoms like headache and flushing and can interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerine, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.

Diclofenac is a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that can cause serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, as well as bleeding, ulceration, and fatal tears of the stomach and intestines, or liver toxicity. Diclofenac may also interact with other medications and significantly increase the risk of adverse events.

ZoomMax and ZapMax capsules were distributed at VitalityVita.com nationwide in the USA. VitalityXtra and PeakMax capsules were distributed on Amazon.com in the USA.

The supplements were labeled as containing a combination of herbs such as thailand butea superba, tribulus terrestris, epimedium root, maca, tongkat ali, and ginseng. More details about the recalled products, including affected lot numbers, are listed below (use the links to read the full warning letter and see product photos).

Both products are labeled with Lot#: 230811 and an expiration date of 8/11/25 (see product photos).

Consumers and or healthcare providers are advised to report any adverse reactions to the FDA MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Program by fax, mail, or online.
