On October 10, 2024, Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. recalled its 3.52 oz packages of Shirakiku Korean Seasoned Seaweed.

(See ConsumerLab’s Seaweed Snacks and Foods Review for tests of related products)

People who have severe sensitivity or allergy to sesame should not consume these products due to the potential risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Recalled Shirakiku Korean Seasoned Seaweed (see product photos) were distributed in California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Washington, New York, and Nevada through retail stores and restaurants. The product is packaged in a 3.52 oz, illustrated plastic bag, containing 5 inner packages. Inner packages have the correct allergen information.

The correct UPC for the product is 074410516031, located on the back right side of the outer package. However, the outer package also displays the wrong UPC: 074410495534.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product may return recalled Shirakiku Korean Seasoned Seaweed to the place of purchase for a full refund. Affected products should then be discarded and not consumed. No illnesses have been reported to date.
