Now Foods Recalls Raw Brazil Nuts Due to Mold and Yeast

On August 14, 2024, NOW Foods issued a recall of its Now Foods Whole & Unsalted Raw Brazil Nuts because they were found to be contaminated with mold and yeast.

Certain molds can cause respiratory problems and allergic reactions in some people. Under certain conditions, some molds can produce mycotoxins, poisonous substances that can lead to illness. The CDC advises consumers throw away most food with visible mold, and warns not to sniff the item, as this may cause respiratory issues (CDC 2013).

Recalled Now Foods Whole & Unsalted Raw Brazil Nuts are packed in a 12 oz. bag and were distributed nationwide and in Singapore. They can be further identified by the following:

  • Best Before date: SEPT. 2025

The FDA recommends consumers to stop using this product, return to the place of purchase, or dispose of this item. Consumers and or healthcare providers are advised to report any adverse reactions to the FDA MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Program by fax, mail, or online.
