On February 17, 2024, Nordic Naturals issued a recall of one lot (approximately 3,800 units) of Nordic Naturals Baby’s Vitamin D3 Liquid because it contains elevated levels of vitamin D. The product is labeled as containing 400 IU (10 mcg) per the suggested serving of 0.25 mL. The amount of excess vitamin D found in the product was not provided, but is described in the recall notice as a “super potent dose.”

The company warned that prolonged use of the product's elevated levels of vitamin D may result in symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and inability to thrive in infants.

Recalled products (see product photos) are used as dietary supplements for infants up to 12 months old. Affected products are packaged in boxes containing one bottle and one dropper and can be further identified by the following:

• Nordic Naturals Baby’s Vitamin D3 Liquid, 0.76 fl oz (22.5 mL), 400 IU (10 mcg) D3
• Lot number: 234909
• Expiration date: December 2025
• SKU: RUS-02733

Nordic Naturals is notifying distributors, retailers, and consumers of the recall via email and is arranging for the return of recalled products. Consumers who have the recalled product should discontinue use and return the item to its place of purchase for refund or replacement.

Consumers and healthcare providers can report any adverse reactions through the FDA’s MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Program.
