Pain Relief Tea Recalled, Found to Contain Prescription Drugs
Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory drug that can cause serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, as well as bleeding, ulceration, and fatal tears of the stomach and intestines, or liver toxicity. The drug ingredient may also interact with other medications and significantly increase the risk of adverse events.
Dexamethasone is a prescription corticosteroid drug that has the potential to cause severe and serious adverse events including adrenal suppression, a disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones, and other adverse events, which can lead to death. Sudden discontinuation of dexamethasone case also cause potentially dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
Recalled Himalayan Pain Relief Tea was promoted for chronic pain, gout, and hangover and was sold nationwide on Amazon.com. Products are packaged in a light-yellow box containing six tea packets printed with barcode 0841920015.
WS Global states that consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact the company via email, call, or text. Consumers using the affected product should immediately consult with a healthcare professional to safely discontinue use.
