Nationwide Pharmaceutical’s Ferrous Sulfate Supplements Recalled
On June 22, 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a nationwide recall of Nationwide Pharmaceutical’s Ferrous Sulfate (Iron) Enteric-Coated Tablets, 324 mg — 100 Tablet Bottles because the supplements are not packaged in child-resistant packaging as required under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. If ingested by children, these iron-containing supplements can cause serious injury or death.
CPSC and Nationwide Pharmaceutical have not received any reports of injuries involving these products.
Recalled Nationwide Pharmaceutical Ferrous Sulfate (Iron) Enteric-Coated Tablets were sold at Albertsons, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens nationwide from December 2022 through January 2023. Products can be identified by the “Nationwide Pharmaceutical” logo on the top left of the bottle’s label panel, and the lot number printed on the bottom of the bottle, as listed below:
- Name: Ferrous Sulfate (Iron) Enteric-Coated Tablets, 324 mg — 100 Tablet Bottles
- Lot Numbers: M0786, M0816, M0817, M0818
Consumers should immediately store the recalled supplements in a safe location away from children, contact Nationwide Pharmaceutical for information on how to dispose of the product, or return products to the place of purchase for a refund.
