On November 5, 2022, Adam’s Polishes, LLC issued a nationwide recall of 20 lots of Adam’s Polishes Hand Sanitizer following FDA testing, which found the presence of methanol in one lot.

Methanol, sometimes called wood alcohol, is poisonous. Methanol exposure through the skin or by ingestion can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death. The FDA first warned consumers about the possible presence of methanol and other toxic ingredients in certain hand sanitizers in 2020, and has continued to update consumers about potentially-affected products and recalls.

Recalled Adam’s Polishes Hand Sanitizer products (see product images) were distributed nationwide in the US to internet customers between June 2020 and March 2022. They are packaged in 4 oz, 8 oz, 16 oz, and one gallon bottles and can be further identified by the following lot numbers:

The company is notifying customers of the recall by email. Consumers who have these recalled hand sanitizers should stop using them and properly discard the product.
