Natural Solutions Foundation Banned From Selling "Nano Silver" as COVID Treatment
On December 28, 2021, the United States Department of Justice announced that Natural Solutions Foundation has agreed to stop selling its nano silver products, in order to settle a suit brought against the company by the FDA for claiming the product could that the company claimed could prevent, treat, or cure COVID-19.
The settlement requires that Natural Solutions Foundation, along with trustees Ralph Fucetola and Dr. Roma Laibow, issue a recall for the nano silver products they sold and destroy any of the remaining products in their possession. The order settling the suit also requires the defendants renotify FDA in advance, comply with specific remedial measures set forth in the injunction and permit FDA to inspect their facilities and procedures before selling any drug in the future.
In its November 2020 complaint, the FDA stated that the company was in violation of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) by distributing a "nano silver" product claiming to prevent, treat, or cure COVID-19.
In a news release about case, Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton of the Justice Department's Civil Division stated: "Marketing unproven products as treatments for COVID-19 endangers public health and violates the law. The department will work closely with the FDA to stop anyone attempting to take advantage of the pandemic by selling unapproved, misbranded drugs."
