FDA Warns Seller of Saffron Supplements
On November 18th, 2021, the FDA issued a warning letter to Saffron Health Sciences following a review of the company's website, social media, and Amazon product listings, which found statements made about the company's products Crocin Rich, Crocin Rich II, and Crocin Rich Plus to be drug claims.
For example, these Crocin supplements were promoted with statements such as "Crocin supplements are designed for...Alzheimer's...Macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic maculopathy" and "Crocin, the unique water-soluble carotenoid with potent...anti-inflammation effects, could be a promising natural agent to boost immune system and body defense against COVID-19."
Crocin Rich Plus and Crocin Rich II were promoted with statements such as "CROCIN RICH II is Good For...Help recovery of nerve and traumatic injury."

In addition, these products were found to be misbranded because they do not contain adequate directions for their intended use, as required by federal regulations.
