Tests Reveal Additional Concerns About SARMs

SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators) are steroid-like substances often illegally marketed as dietary supplements or drugs and typically promoted for building lean muscle mass, as they can act as anabolic steroids. They include compounds such as Ostarine, LGD-4033, or Andarine. No SARM has been approved as a drug by the FDA, but they have been reported to be used by athletes, recreational bodybuilders, and members of the U.S. armed forces. Last month the FDA issued warning letters to several companies distributing SARMs. This week a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that a large proportion of SARMs products do not contain the compounds they claim and/or contain other compounds.
