Men’s Sexual Enhancement Supplement Containing Prescription Drug Recalled
On September 12, 2012, Body Basics Inc. issued a voluntary nationwide recall of ACTRA-Sx 500 Dietary Supplement Capsules after independent laboratory testing confirmed the supplement contains the prescription drug sildenafil citrate. Consumers who have purchased this supplement should not take it as this drug may pose a health risk. No adverse reactions have been reported at this time.
The sildenafil citrate in ACTRA-Sx is the active ingredient in an FDA approved drug for erectile dysfunction. This drug can cause symptoms like headache and flushing, and can interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerin, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.
