Best CoQ10 & Ubiquinol Supplements According to ConsumerLab Tests
White Plains, NY, April 11, 2024 —  CoQ10 and its active form, ubiquinol, are among the most popular supplements, taken by 42.2% of supplement users, often taken by people on cholesterol-lowering statin medication and for a variety of other conditions.

To identify the best CoQ10 and ubiquinol supplements, ConsumerLab recently purchased and tested 20 CoQ10 and ubiquinol supplements sold in the U.S.

Key Findings:

  • CoQ10 and Ubiquinol Quality: ConsumerLab found that the quality of the selected products was generally high -- although these findings do not necessarily reflect the quality of most products on the market, as ConsumerLab's goal is to identify the best quality products and, with each successive review, it selects products that have demonstrated high quality in its previous tests as well as those popular among ConsumerLab members, who are generally well-informed consumers and health professionals.
  • Higher Cost for Better Bioavailability? The cost to obtain 100 mg of CoQ10 from products varied significantly, from 5 to 70 cents, and for the same amount of ubiquinol, the cost ranged from 25 cents to over $1.00. Considering the possible superior bioavailability of ubiquinol over regular CoQ10, the prices of most ubiquinol products were quite reasonable. Higher priced products tended to include bioavailability enhancing ingredients, which allow them to be taken without a meal. However, if you take regular CoQ10 or ubiquinol with a meal containing fats, this will likely significantly improve absorption.

CL selected six Top Picks among CoQ10 and ubiquinol supplements, based on demonstrated quality, ingredients, dosage and cost, including an overall Top Pick.
