Our Members Asked:
Why does dark chocolate have iron in it? Is it, or cocoa, a good dietary source of iron?
Answer:
Cacao plants absorb iron from the soil as they grow, so cocoa powder and dark chocolate made from these plants will provide moderate amounts of iron. However, this iron may not be well absorbed. More about this can be found in the Cocoa Powder, Chocolate, Nibs and Supplements Review >>
(For more information about getting iron, see the Iron Supplements Review.)
