Our Members Asked:
Can taking N-acetylcysteine (NAC) supplements reduce my risk of liver damage from acetaminophen?
Answer:
Although N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is used medically to treat acetaminophen (Tylenol) overdose, no studies in people have evaluated the effects of taking NAC with acetaminophen to prevent acetaminophen-related liver damage. The only studies like this to-date have been in animals. For more details about this and other uses of NAC, see the "What It Does" section of the NAC Supplements Review >>
