Male Sexual Enhancement Supplement Adam’s Secret Found to Contain Prescription Medication
On January 10, 2023, the FDA issued a warning letter to HIS Enterprise Inc dba Adam’s Secret USA, LLC after laboratory analysis found Adam’s Secret Extra Strength 3000 Platinum, Adam’s Secret Extra Strength Blue, Adam’s Secret Extra Strength Purple, Adam's Secret Extra Strength Amazing Black, Adam’s Secret Extra Strength 2000, and Dr. Reade Slim Sense products to contain undeclared tadalafil or sildenafil, or both.
Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) and tadalafil (the active ingredient in Cialis) are prescribed for erectile dysfunction. These drugs can cause symptoms like headache and flushing and can interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerine, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.
In addition, the FDA found statements made on the company’s website to be drug claims. For example, Adam’s Secret products were promoted with claims such as, “This pill is all you need to enhance your blood flow and testosterone level whenever there’s sexual activity.” Dr. Reade Slim Sense products were promoted as a, “Clinically proven fat burner for healthy and safe weight loss.”
The FDA also found products to be misbranded because product labeling fails to bear adequate directions for its intended use and lacks proper warnings of the presence of tadalafil or sildenafil for the protection of consumers.
In 2021, Adam’s Secret Extra Strength 1500 and Adam’s Secret Extra Strength 3000 products were also recalled after being found to contain sildenafil and/or tadalafil.
HIS Enterprise Inc dba Adam’s Secret USA, LLC has 15 days to respond to the FDA in writing to explain the specific steps taken to address any violations.
